Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Driver In Fairfax County As Death Toll Continues To Mount

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a driver while crossing a busy intersection in Virginia, according to police.

The Fairfax County Police Department reported shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4 that they had been called in to investigate a crash near the intersection of Arlington Boulevard and Allen Street, where there was a pedestrian who had been struck by a driver in Falls Church.

Officials say that the man was evaluated and treated at the scene before being transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Investigators did not provide the name or age of the victim, pending notification of his next of kin. The driver remained at the scene following the fatal incident, police noted.

The crash led to a temporary closure of the eastbound lanes of Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) while detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated the incident.

According to FFXnow, the latest strike represents the 27th fatal pedestrian crash in the county in 2022, representing the deadliest year for pedestrians in more than a decade.
